MaPSA School Registrars’ Training Workshop
The Manila Ecclesiastical Province School Systems Association – Commission on Human Resources-Continuing Education (MaPSA CHR-CE) and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Manila Educational System (RCAMES) initiated a three (3) day school registrars’ training-workshop on 21-23 November 2019 at the MaPSA Boardroom, 6th Floor, St. John Bldg. Paco Catholic School, 1521 Paz St., Paco, Manila.
The training-workshop was designed to equip the participants with the fundamentals and principles of registrarship, policies, procedures, duties, accountabilities and responsibilities that impact on the institution and on the Registrar’s position. After the training-workshop, school registrars shall have enhanced their: 1) proficiency and sound judgment in the interpretation and application of policies and laws affecting their role in the school’s organizational structure; 2) consistency in the implementation of office procedures that have direct impact on students’ success in school, from admission, enrollment to graduation and beyond; and 3) commitment to the delivery of quality service with accuracy, timeliness and responsiveness to the growing expectations of stakeholders and the emerging challenges of the world of technology.
The training-workshop was facilitated by Ma. Humildad “Millie’ F. Claro, the Managing Director of the Quality Assurance Office and Consultant of the Office of the Registrar in the University of Asia and the Pacific. She was also the former Institutional Registrar of St. Scholastica’s College, Manila and Chair of the CEAP NCR Tertiary Commission Registrars’ Committee. Sixty-one (61) participants from MaPSA and three (3) from CEAP NCR member schools at this Workshop.
The training-workshop covered the following topics:
1. The 21st Century Registrar of a Catholic School: WHERE AM I NOW?
2. The Operating Principles in Registrarship: Leadership and Management Responsibilities of the Registrar
3. Registrar’s Accountabilities and Responsibilities: Legal Issues
4. Records Management (RM)
5. The Essentials of Good Housekeeping in the Registrar’s Office
6. Implementing Rules and Guidelines for Registrars of the Data Privacy Act of 2012
7. Enablers: The Pathway to Quality Service of the Registrar’s Office
8. Synthesis: The Role of Registrars in Catholic Educational Institutions in Response to the Emerging Challenges of the Times
On the last day of the training-workshop, the group suggested that a MaPSA core group of school registrars be formed. After discussing who representatives for each diocesan educational system were to be, the group elected the following to be officers:

PRO : Mr. Michael F. Mondejar The Nazarene Catholic School (RCAMES)

This core group was formed to address issues and concerns of school registrars, develop training or training programs, and come up with the registrars’ manual of operations for MaPSA schools.
The training-workshop culminated with the awarding of Certificates of Attendance to participants. The usual photo session followed.
